Neve Adrianne Campbell (/ˈnɛv ˈkæmbəl/; born October 3, 1973) is a Canadian actress. She was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario and attended school at the National Ballet School of Canada and the John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute, where she trained in acting and worked in theatre. Following a series of guest appearances, she first received recognition for starring in the Canadian drama series Catwalk (1992–1994) and the family television film The Canterville Ghost (1996), before starring as Julia Salinger in the Fox teen drama series Party of Five (1994–2000), which is her breakthrough role.

Campbell achieved her first leading feature film role with the supernatural horror The Craft (1996) and rose to international prominence for starring as Sidney Prescott in Wes Craven’s slasher film franchise Scream (1996–present). The first film, released in 1996, emerged as a critical and commercial success, and was the highest-grossing slasher film for over 20 years; the franchise has since attained a cult following. Her performance in the series has garnered critical praise, and established her as one of the highest-grossing and acclaimed horror heroines in modern time.[1][2][3] She has won several accolades for her work, including two Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, a Fangoria Chainsaw Award, a Saturn Award and an MTV Award. Campbell has since starred in films such as the neo-noir thriller Wild Things (1998), the crime films Drowning Mona and Panic (both 2000), the dramas The Company (2003) and When Will I Be Loved (2004), the comedies Churchill: The Hollywood Years (2004) and Relative Strangers (2006), the romantic-drama Closing the Ring (2007), the comedy-drama Walter (2015), the action film Skyscraper (2018), and the musical drama Clouds (2020). She also starred as Olivia Maidstone in the NBC action drama series The Philanthropist (2009) and as LeAnn Harvey in the Netflix political thriller series House of Cards (2016–2017). Aside from her acting career, Campbell has been noted as a prominent media figure since the late 1990s, and has been on the cover of several magazines, such as Empire and Rolling Stone. She appeared on People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in the world in both 1998 and 2000.
