Manuela Velasco Díez (born October 23, 1975 in Vigo, Spain) is a Spanish actress and television presenter,[1][2] who is known for portraying the lead protagonist Ángela Vidal in the horror franchise REC (2007–2014). Her performance in its first installment won her the Goya Award for Best New Actress, which is the spanish equivalent to the Academy Awards.

Velasco starred in the Spanish horror films REC,[3] REC 2 and REC 4: Apocalypse.[4] In 2008, she won the Goya Award for Best New Actress for her performance in REC.[5] In 2005 she hosted Cuatrosfera, by Cuatro.[6][7] In 2009, she starred in La chica de ayer, a Spanish version of UK TV series Life on Mars.[8] In 2010 she portrayed Eugenia de Molina, the duchess of Monfragüe in Águila Roja, by TVE.[9] In 2011 she appeared in the TV series Ángel o demonio.[10] In 2012 she played Ainhoa in Aída.[11] From 2014 to 2016 she played Cristina Otegui in the TV series Velvet.[12] In 2016 she played in a theatrical adaptation of the 1994 film Todo es mentira.[13] In 2017 she appeared in the stage play Bajo terapia alongside Gorka Otxoa, Fele Martínez and Melani Olivares.[14]
